Photini Fowlkes

I started my atelier, based in Nicosia, in 2002 mainly designing and tailoring garments made to measure and at the same time presenting small collections for each season. A few years later my designs were also displayed in a boutique in Nicosia.

In 2006, for further knowledge and experience I followed a course at Central Saint Martin’s college of Art and Design in London, for designing and professional approaches to patternmaking and later on, a course in patternmaking for men. For the last year I am designing and creating menswear and shortly planning to present a complete collection.

I presented for the first time a fashion street show in Nicosia in 2007, with 60 pieces of my collection for spring-summer 2008, followed by my participation in the first Cyprus Fashion week presenting for fall winter 2009.

Through the years I experimented with various techniques, which I greatly enjoyed exploring, such as patch-work and hand knitted garments, embroidered, machine-stitched and hand painted designs, hand bags, necklaces and belts.

I like draping, folding and pleating, creating more sculptural designs as well as mixing and matching fabrics.
The new and different excites me. So is my coming collection.

Exploring and discovering designs, shapes and cuts is my passion and leaves me knowing that creating is a miracle, there are no limits and there are infinite ways attempting to reach it. The outcome is a mystery….
